Free Typing Speed Test in English and Nepali
Find out how fast you type in words per minute (WPM) and how accurate you are. Choose a 15, 30, 60 or 120 second test, or a set number of words, type random words or full sentences, and get a speed chart at the end. It works in English and in Nepali, and your scores stay in your browser.
How WPM is measured
The standard way is to count every 5 correct characters, spaces included, as one word, then divide by the minutes you typed. That makes results comparable between people and between texts. Raw speed counts everything you typed, and accuracy is the share of keystrokes that were correct.
What is a good typing speed?
| Speed | Level |
|---|---|
| Under 20 WPM | Just starting |
| 20 to 35 WPM | Getting there |
| 35 to 50 WPM | Average adult |
| 50 to 70 WPM | Above average, fine for office work |
| 70 to 90 WPM | Fast, professional |
| 90 to 120 WPM | Very fast |
| 120+ WPM | Elite |
Nepali typing test
Switch to नेपाली to practise Nepali Unicode typing with common words and sentences. Use your computer’s Nepali keyboard, or turn on “Type with English letters” to type the sound (for example “namaste” becomes नमस्ते) and press space. This is handy if you do not have a Nepali keyboard installed or you are preparing for a typing exam.
Tips to type faster
- Put accuracy first. Speed follows once mistakes stop slowing you down.
- Look at the screen, not the keyboard, and keep your fingers on the home row.
- Practise a little every day. Ten minutes beats an hour once a week.
- Read a word or two ahead so your fingers never wait for your eyes.
- Sit up, relax your shoulders and keep your wrists level.
