Type Nepali Online with an English Keyboard
Write Nepali without installing a keyboard. Type phonetically in English letters and the tool converts each word into Devanagari when you press space or punctuation. Copy the result and paste it into Facebook, WhatsApp, Word, Gmail or any website. A second mode converts a block of pasted Roman text all at once.
How the typing scheme works
- Vowels: a, i, u, e, o are short; use aa, ee, oo (or the capitals A, I, U) for long sounds.
- Consonants typed back to back join automatically: namaste → नमस्ते. Type an extra a to keep them apart: sarakaar → सरकार.
- Capitals give the hard sounds: T Th D Dh N → ट ठ ड ढ ण, and Sh → ष.
- Common conjuncts: ksh → क्ष, tr → त्र, gy → ज्ञ, shr → श्र.
Good to know
- This is a rule-based phonetic converter with no dictionary, so you control the spelling.
- The “Type directly” box edits the end of the text; use Convert mode for corrections in the middle or on Android keyboards that bypass key events.
