Dashain and Tihar 2083
Dashain holidays run for seven days from Saturday 17 October to Friday 23 October 2026 (Ashwin 31 to Kartik 6), and Ghatasthapana on Sunday 11 October 2026 is a separate holiday. With the weekend, that makes a break of nine days. Tihar runs from Sunday 8 November to Thursday 12 November 2026 (Kartik 22 to 26), followed by Chhath on Sunday 15 November.
Holidays for specific groups
Some holidays apply only to certain people: Teej, Jitiya and International Women’s Day for female employees, Gai Jatra, Indra Jatra and Ghode Jatra for Kathmandu Valley, community festivals such as Falgunanda Jayanti and Guru Nanak Jayanti, and Basanta Panchami for schools. Eid ul-Fitr, Eid ul-Adha, the Prophet’s birthday and Bhoto Jatra depend on the moon or a local calendar and are announced later.
Plan your leave
The planner finds every break of four days or more and shows where taking one to three days of leave connects two breaks into a longer one. You can count Sunday as a day off or not.
