What are golden hour and blue hour?
Golden hour is the stretch when the sun is low, from about 4 degrees below the horizon to 6 degrees above it. The light is warm and soft, which is why photographers love it. Blue hour comes just before sunrise and after sunset, when the sun is 4 to 8 degrees below the horizon and the sky turns deep blue.
Twilight explained
Civil twilight ends when the sun is 6 degrees below the horizon, nautical twilight at 12 degrees and astronomical twilight at 18 degrees, after which the sky is fully dark. The table shows when each stage starts and ends for your place and date.
Why sunrise differs across Nepal
Nepal is about 880 km from east to west and the sun moves west, so it reaches the far east about half an hour before the far west. Nepal Time is set for the 86.25 degree east meridian, so solar noon in Kathmandu is around 11:51 AM rather than 12:00.
How accurate are the times?
The times come from a full model of the Sun and Moon, including atmospheric refraction, and are accurate to about a minute for a flat, clear horizon. High mountains and deep valleys can delay the real sunrise or bring sunset earlier. District times use the district headquarters.
