Holi Countdown: How Many Days Are Left?
This page counts down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until Holi (होली). The date is shown in both the English calendar and the Bikram Sambat (BS) calendar, with a day-by-day schedule, and you can add it to your calendar or share it with friends and family.
About Holi
Holi, or Fagu Purnima, welcomes spring and celebrates the triumph of good over evil. People throw coloured powder and water at each other, share sweets and dance. The celebration begins a week earlier in Kathmandu when a ceremonial bamboo pole (chir) is raised at Basantapur Durbar Square.
In Nepal the hill and mountain districts celebrate on Fagu Purnima, and the Terai districts celebrate the next day.
How the countdown works
The counter runs to midnight at the start of the festival day in Nepal (UTC+5:45), so it is correct wherever you are in the world. Holi depends on the lunar calendar, so its English date changes each year and is confirmed shortly before the festival. When the festival has passed, the page tells you when the next date is available.
