Chhath Countdown: How Many Days Are Left?
This page counts down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until Chhath (छठ). The date is shown in both the English calendar and the Bikram Sambat (BS) calendar, and you can add it to your calendar or share it with friends and family.
About Chhath
Chhath is a festival of the Terai and Mithila region dedicated to the sun god Surya and Chhathi Maiya. Devotees fast without water, stand in a river or pond and offer fruit, thekua and sugarcane to the setting sun, and again to the rising sun the next morning.
Families and neighbours decorate the riverbank, sing folk songs and prepare the offerings carefully, because the festival is known for its purity and discipline.
How the countdown works
The counter runs to midnight at the start of the festival day in Nepal (UTC+5:45), so it is correct wherever you are in the world. Chhath depends on the lunar calendar, so its English date changes each year and is confirmed shortly before the festival. When the festival has passed, the page tells you when the next date is available.
